Start your Halloween off early with Vampirella on A&E Network's “The Secret Life of Vampires” premiering Friday, October 28 at 8PM EST. Vampirella will be part of the program that examines the place of the vampire myth in our pop culture.
Here is how A&E describes it:
Long before Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt bared their fangs, vampires have been the sex symbols - the rock stars - of the horror genre. They embody the dark, hidden, erotic element of human consciousness; at once seductive and repellent. During this 2-hour special, viewers will once again fall under the vampire's hypnotic spell, as we explore the creature's lasting impact on pop culture over more than a century.
Vampirella Editorial Director Bon Alimagno was asked by the show's producers to talk on camera about the character's history and place in comics. “One of the producers called me up and said they were about to complete the show, but it was missing something: Vampirella! They told me the character's part in the program may be brief, but I think anytime her place in pop culture and comics is recognized it's something that Vampi fans should celebrate.”
Vampirella's appearance coincides with the release of Vampirella Revelations #1, by Mike Carey, Mike Lilly and Bob Almond. The comic launches Vampi into a new era of character-driven horror stories. Issue #1 arrives in comic shops November 9.
