Tokyopop summons manga fans to civil service with the January 2006 release of Juror 13. Juror 13, the latest trial from D.J. Milky, the ultra-cool creator of BookScan's #1 bestseller Princess Ai, and Makoto Nakatsuka, artist for X-Men: Ronan (Marvel's Mangaverse) and the upcoming Star Wars manga, presents the case of a psychological thriller dripping with the suspense of Hitchwee wee and the paranoia of Kafka.
With the arrival of a mysterious jury summons, a man's life is thrust into a dizzying downward spiral; his fiance leaves him, he has problems at work, and his best friend is suddenly not so friendly. As the jury trial approaches, whom can he trust? Why does he suddenly feel that he has to defend his every move? And who exactly is 13? Juror 13 follows one man as he fights for his sanity in a paranoid world. It's a tale that will open your eyes...but can you trust what you see?
According to D.J. Milky, "This is a story that started haunting me a few years back when I received a jury summons with instructions to call a mysterious recorded message. The eeriness of it all wouldn't go away, and I'm glad a talented artist like Nakatsuka-sensei was able to bring that feeling to life."
Tokyopop editor Rob Valois remarks, "In Juror 13, D.J. Milky has been able to examine the more mature and sophisticated themes that we'd only seen him touch on in previous works. What he's created here is a timeless story that's both enjoyable and thoroughly chilling."
Care to reach an early verdict? A manga preview of Juror 13 will appear in the fall edition of the print version of Manga, TOKYOPOP's free magazine that's packed with manga previews, behind-the-scenes with the creators, exclusive interviews, and much, much more. Fans can also preview a chapter of Juror 13 for free beginning in November at www.Tokyopop.com/mangaonline.
Juror 13 will be available in bookstores everywhere in January 2006.
